Why dry your socks in the rain

They will get cleaner and dry faster. "Impossible. Insane. Can't be true" you say. On first look you would seem to be right but you are wrong. "Interested?" Then let's go deeper. Reality is not what it seems. Put yourself in this situation. Imagine you are living in an apartment. You get up in the morning, look in your draw and pull out the last pair of socks.. If you don't wash the ones you wore yesterday you won't have a fresh pair to wear. You look out the window. Its raining. You have a washing machine but no dryer and you are late for work. Before having your shower you  put a plug in the basin, turn on the water and throw in the socks to soak. After showering you soap, rub. wash, rinse and squeeze them and hang them outside your window in the rain As you get in your car to go to work you know you have maximised your chance of having clean and dry socks. You have done your best. Imagine, upstairs your neighbour also faced exactly the same situation with her underwear She too looked out her window, saw it was raining, and said "what's the point! They won't dry. Will wash them when I get back from the office.".  Now, that sounds reasonable, doesn't it? All morning it rains and the socks are soaked. After lunch the sun comes out and stays out and by early evening they are dry. The neighbour arrives home, washes her underwear and hangs it out to dry in the warm evening air. In the early hours of the morning it rains and when she gets up to dress they are too wet to wear. On her way to work she buys a new set of underwear. "So what" you say. "A case of good luck and bad luck. That's all," Not so. By acting when he realised he had a need for clean socks he maximises his chances of having his need met.  She by waiting for the conditions to be right lowered her chances. Of course it could have rained all that day and all that night and our friend with the socks to dry would still have wet socks. The difference was he was ready for conditions to change and she was not. And what is absolutly certain all is in change. The one who is ready for change is always a jump ahead. Don't wait for the conditions to be ready.. Act when you are ready PS  And the rain gave those socks an extra rinse that made them all the cleaner.
